Buy in Bulk...Save Money?

We made our trip to Kennewick and met with Reality Homes. They had good information and options so we will probably go with them. I am going to cut and paste a floorplan I like and fax it over to them and we will go from there. Since we were going we decided to take the pick-up and buy some items at Home Depot. We could get OSB sheets there for $2 less each. We bought 40 and two doors. We would have gotten 50 but Gary was worried about the weight. Happy about our purchase we got on the freeway. In no time a semi merged onto the road and kicked up a rock. It dinged the windshield! The further down the road we got the more it spread until...POP...and there it went. No Glass Dr. can fix this. So we didn't save money,
we lost money because replacing the windshield will cost more than the $80 we saved on boards. Go figure!

WHOOO goes there?

Jeremy visited the property earlier this week to see what has been going on and as he approached the shop he heard blaring music coming from this little radio. It was his first radio that he got back in grade school....why it is still around, I have no idea with all the yard sales we have had. He wondered what was going on but felt he had better leave it alone. It serves a purpose. It is our owl deterrent. Since we put the roof on, an owl took a liking to the rafters and was in there every night. He was making a mess. We let him come and go for awhile thinking there was nothing to be done until the doors were up. Gareld saw the radio up in the storage trailer and decided to give it a try. It worked! The owl has stayed out. It may be scaring off the deer and elk too since it can be heard on the whole mountain but the owl has found another haunt.

House Hunting

How do you like this house? Cute isn't it. It is one of the houses we are considering. We went to Caldwell to talk to Adair Homes today. We got some questions answered and some additional information. Next Saturday we go to Kennewick to talk to another builder. These are fast, simple, pre-cut, house plans that are intended to be mass produced and go up quickly. Cost per square foot is about half of what a general contractor charges. It's fun getting to this stage in the process.

Ikea

Gareld got a new camera and this is the 2nd picture he took with it. We went to Ikea to look at the flooring. Those of you that have been there know how they have massive features of everything. All blocked out, stacked high, spread wide etc. Same with the carts I guess because this is what caught his eye and was worthy of a photo. (The first picture was of a Nova station wagon at the roadster show but it turned out blurry).

Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my.

There really was a lion and lots of bears but I didn't see a tiger. Lots of nice head mounts and talented taxidermists. Gareld is pretty good too and I can't wait until we can display his stuff. The five animals he got in Africa are going to be nice when completed and up on the wall.
Take a look at this taxidermy display. Can you imagine half a giraffe in your house? Brody Turner from North Powder also had a booth at the show. You could say Gareld had a part in his success. He helped him with his senior project and taught him some taxidermy. Now Brody has quite the business.

Critter Cam Revisited

It's been awhile since I have posted critters. We have the camera here on the outskirts of Union and while we do get an awful lot of deer traffic we need to get it back over to the property. The elk were really moving up and down the mountain a few weeks back. Going to the sportsman show this weekend may get us motivated to try and capture something better.

Salvation

I had a glorious time this past Saturday at the Junk Salvation Show. It wasn't overly crowded. Every booth was awesome. We went round and round then round again. So many pretty things.
I have now talked myself into going to Farm Chicks in June. ( There wasn't really any doubt as I already have my motel reservation). This just confirmed it. There is another Junk Salvation Show on May 13, 14 in Puyallup, WA. It is worth checking into.
There were four "Sisters on the Fly" trailers at the show on display and all decked out. It was so fun to look inside all of them and they gave me some new trailer decorating inspirations.

The inside is just darling. I can't wait to get mine put back together. I thought it was going up to Anthony Lakes for the winter so I got all the cuteness out, but it stayed down here.

Having a trailer just gives you another room to decorate! I need another trailer.

Here's a shot of one of the booths. I was trying to take pictures without being noticed so unfortunately most are blurry. I got a lot of neat display ideas.

Here's what I came home with plus a couple cute things from Target. Nothing too big or expensive just thinks I like to look for. The valentine tags are just a cute idea for reference.

Let there be light.....

..... and a wall. The electricity is flowing. Gareld can go after work and get a lot more done in the evenings now. The wall is 12' high for hanging all those animals on. Gareld said the other day he misses his hog. It's been awhile since he has seen it. All his nice head mounts are hanging in his friends house right now so he can't wait to get them back.
