FUTURE HOME OF....

My antique shop is in the works!! Dad and Gareld are preparing the site and my builder is coming out Friday to scope it out. He already gave me a quote for materials and he is ready to get started. He's a friend of Gareld's from the fire department. Let's get this party started.

To steal a phrase made famous in the month of July: "this is the right place". I will have my own little enterprise here just inside the gate of our property. Sister Shic will have a home here

I don't know what the name will be yet but the building is going to be started next week. I will have a 12x20 shop with a 4' covered porch. Eventually I will have my pumpkin patch. Sandra and I want to host a fall shabby chic show of some kind next year. This year we are going to be at Junk Salvation in Walla Walla, WA in October. Look up Junk Salvation or Funky Junk Sisters for more info. I will send out more details too. This is the start of something really fun for me!

WISHING WELL

The cap is off and I see water down there. Now all the steps to getting it out are in progress.
While Gareld and Dad worked on this project Morgan and I painted the big sportsman room in the shop. There it has a new name: Sportsman Room. Can't wait to get the colors on this week. Right now it is all primed.

First step was to get electricity hooked up to the pump house. Then begin installing the pump. It won't be long now and we will be pumping our own water from our own property.

This group of hose, rope and wire was stretched out into the field before being lowered into the well pipe. Morgan, Grandpa and I were spaced out along the line. Gareld was lowering it in.

All doesn't go as planned. the depth of the well is about 9' shorter than expected so this hose has to be cut and new fittings put on the end.

Family Time

We took a Saturday off work on the property to attend a family reunion. We are on the organizing committee and always provide the pop machine and Pepsi products. We did take some time early that morning to hit a few estate sales. We found some great items for good prices. It rained off and on all day but it was beautiful none the less. It's nice to get outdoors and enjoy our wonderful neck of the woods here in Eastern Oregon. This event happens every two years up at Catherine Creek State Park. This was the 25th Reunion. Gareld's family falls in the Simonis line of this group. Genealogy takes the line back to Germany. One of the girls also in this line went on her mission to Germany. Her mom went over when it was her time to come home and loved it. She met lot's of the Simonis line and is planning a return trip in June 2013. Morgan may tag along. Another way to see more of the world.

EXPO in July

I call it EXPO but it actually is "America's Largest Antique & Collectible Show". Held in Portland, OR three times a year. I have gone for years and I most often go to all three shows. My friend Tonie flew out from Tennessee. We had Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all to ourselves. She flew back home Monday. We went shopping around Portland, to the antique show and to a movie. We did crafts in our hotel room. We relaxed and watched t.v. We ate out and in the room. We pack a lunch for show day and make several trips to the car. It is always a great way to spend the weekend. I look forward to it every time. Next one is in October!

A little something for the guys. I try to tell Gareld he could go with me. Last year there were teardrop trailers on display, this year vintage cars. It would have taken him all of 15 minutes to view the cars so what would he do with the other 9 hours!

This was one cute idea I saw using burlap. It is really popular right now and a lot of vendors are thinking up new ways to use it. The July show is the best because they have a good chunk of the parking lot filled with more booths and these are the fun booths that we like best.

At Last!

Just like Christmas morning. Gary has been drooling over Treager Grills for 3 years now. He has really wanted one bad. They are a lot of money though. He called me at work to see if I would drive up to Enterprise and look at a used one. The guy selling it said there were a lot of calls and it might not last until he could get up there. I got off at 1:30 so I went on a pretty drive up the branch. It was a little out there to the man's house, 12 miles off the Wallowa Highway. I got to it first! Now Gareld has a new toy and you can see he is already playing with it. Prime Rib anyone?

Land Ownership

Phew! I haven't worked outside all day for years!! Not since we had to cut 12 cords of wood for the North Powder house each summer. We were at the property all day today. I learned how to operate a weed eater. I have been able to avoid it until now. There are so many weeds to control out there I'd better help. We picked up construction garbage, sprayed weeds, moved the big travel trailer to make room for my antique shop, picked up rocks, hauled three trailers over from Union, mowed grass, cut down an old gate and added to the burn pile. Our neighbor was there cutting the hay fields. It was a very productive day. The joys of being a landowner.
